Rajasthan's tourism department has begun its annual pre-season preparations ahead of what officials expect to be another strong winter for visitor numbers, both domestic and international.

Cleaning and lighting upgrades are underway at several forts and palaces, and heritage walk programmes in cities like Jodhpur have reportedly seen growing interest from travellers looking for a more guided, story-driven way to see the state.

Hotel operators in several tourist towns say early bookings are running ahead of last year's pace, though they caution that the real test comes once peak season arrives in December and January.
